In Response To: Bob Koca Interview--A Must Read (Timothy Chow)

Thanks.

This is what I gather from those threads:

(1) XG's and Gnubg's methods of calculating error per move are nearly the same.

(2) There's nothing wrong with Gnubg's method; nevertheless XG's method is slightly different.

(3) After XG and Gnubg calculate error per move, XG multiplies by 500 to get PR and Gnubg multiplies by 1,000 to get ER. The multiply-by-500 (instead of the more sensible 1,000) is apparently so that XG PR is somewhat comparable to Snowie ER -- even though XG won't just come out and tell you the Snowie ER (as Gnubg does) because (says XG) the Snowie method is "inherently flawed."

(4) "My opinion is that we have too many different error measurements floating around already."
