A true test of Backgammon Skill

In Response To: A true test of Backgammon Skill (phil simborg)

Can you double on your very first play? If so my guess is that it is a double/drop. If it is not a double/drop, then the opponent has a double drop on his turn. So played at the highest level it would not be a very interesting game.
