I wrote about the 1982 Oregon vs Barr court case. the judge ruled that backgammon is not a game of chance. but a game of skill.Daniel Murphy asked to cite any proof of national impact, that the ruling had to other states gambling laws.

citing the 1978 New Jersey ruling against backgammon as not a game skill. well the Oregon ruling was four after New Jersey,I recall that after the Oregon ruling the backgammon world changed in the sense, that tournament directors were not worried about having gambling charges brought.I don't claim to know much about what was happening in the TD world of backgammon.I am sure you would know much more about it than me. maybe there were problems with law and backgammon tournaments. it seemed as if things went a lot better after 82. I was just wanted to tell the younger players about the past and maybe somehow slim as it might be it could help those stuck with the Belgium problem.I wasn't trying to claim I had all answers.
