When defending against the claim that the mere presense of dice makes backgammon a game of chance regardless of the rich and complex strategies that must be mastered to play at the highest level, the argument must be that without skill, you have essentially zero chance to win. Making parallels with other games with random elements like bridge or scrabble will fail here because these people will simply counter that those games are also games of chance for the same reason.
