Re My greatest objection to backgammon tournaments is that there is not enough backgammon play.
At the Michigan Summer Championships, you could have played in the Open, Intermediate, or Novice flight; and the Michigan Masters; and the Howard Ring Memorial Jackpot; and the Michigan Blitz; and the Snowie Freeze-out; and a $200 or $100 Firecracker Jackpot; and the Open Doubles or Limited Doubles; and a $20 or $10 Detroit Quickie; and a $50 or $30 Earlybird Jackpot; and a $50 or $30 Wednesday Warm-up; and a $50 Saturday Jackpot; and a $50 Sunday Jackpot; and the $50 or $20 After-tournament Tournament.
At the Pittsburgh Open, you could have played in the Open, Advanced, or Novice flight; and the Super Jackpot, Open Jackpot or Advanced Jackpot; and the Open Doubles or Limited Doubles; and the Blitz; and the $20 Quickie; and the Pittsburgh Memorial Cup or the Three Rivers Amateur Cup; and the Thursday Warm-up.
At the last Midwest Championship, you could have played in the Open, Advanced or Limited flight; and the Grand Crystal Beaver jackpot; and the Battle of the Sexes doubles event; and a Nackgammon tournament; and the Open Doubles or Limited Doubles; and the Purple Haze Blitz; and the 2-point Quickie; and the Taki Flower-Power Tourney.
At the Las Vegas Open, you could have played in the Championship, Intermediate or Beginner flight; and the Super Jackpot or Limited Jackpot; possibly the Seniors Tournament; and the Doubles Tournament; and the Blitz event; and the $400 Jackpot; and the Saturday Jackpot; and the 2-point mini-match event; and a $100 Sunday Jackpot; and the $50 or $20 After-tournament Tournament.
Not enough action for you?
