Minimum # of Trials and Confidence

In Response To: Minimum # of Trials and Confidence (Stick)

The main reason being that in the time it takes you to sneeze you'll have an okay minimum number of trials (324). For Snowie and GNU I used to use 108 trials as my bottom floor minimum.

That's sensible, since XG apparently does rollouts about (at least?) three times as fast as GNU.

I don't want them to be confused into thinking that maybe a rollout can be good enough after 1 trial

If they thought that maybe a rollout could be good enough after one trial, they might be confused, but (if they were using Gnubg) they would be right. For some decisions, one trial is enough. Two-ply lookahead and variance reduction work wonders.
