In Problem of the Week #78 (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/138/backgammon/problem-week-78-solution-895281/) there was a checker play question how to play 31. You could mainly choose between making a fourth point in an early blitz or hit, bringing a second man to dance. A rollout shows: making the point and discard the possibility to bring a second checker on the bar was a blunder. I think, this is here the same. Black, with 2 men in the air is a whole move out of constructive play. The hit brings also down additional wood in firing range. And it is safe. If you have to choose between plays, you should take the play which has several good things going. Perhaps we should, as other said, exorzist the devil with the beelzebub and counterprime. Perhaps we have even a blitz. Cube leverage is on our side.
