Poker is a very interesting situation however. If you play exactly one hand of heads-up hold-em poker, what is your chance of winning against the most skilled player in the world? Exactly 50%. The game as a simple Win or Lose contest is 100% luck. The skill is entirely in the betting and the amount won per game. I can certainly see poker as being lumped by some into the same skill category as sports betting where your skill has no effect on the outcome of the game but your chance of success is entirely in the bets you place. The same clearly does not hold true for backgammon. Backgammon is a pure skill-based game that does not require betting to be so.
