Couldn't the .03 equity come from erors made from the players and not from the luck evaluations being off?

That's true, you could have errors in play. I was focusing on reducing random error.

As Maik deduced, I use single trial rollouts like this for bot training. You can generate millions of rolled out positions in very little time. As long as the equities generated are "pretty good" they work well for training bots because they are not biased. (During training, the neural net converges on the correct average value.)
