After watching many matches this weekend and paying attention, I am convinced that a dice tube makes the dice easier to read for spectators. With normal dice rolling, the number of times that the dice disappear from view behind the edges of the board or the bar is surprising. And it was not just me. I was watching lots of other people constantly shifting positions or asking others what the roll was.
