SSD are at best two times faster then HD. RAID0 put the data from one file on several devices, so the access is faster. But you can save money for RAM SSD and Raid Controller, when XG says, it all depends on cpu power, and therefore on running threads, then with a little bucks more, you can beat out XG. Look at http://www.actg.de/. Ten blades with the gulftown, and then you have perhaps 1 teraflop at home. A question on XG, if the bot will run even on such a system. I don't have experience with a blade engine. But it is a nice picture, XG and 1 teraflop. Perhaps problems with the OS.
