What's the plan?

Hitting is the obvious play so if a play looks worse than hitting then we can eliminate it.
Breaking anchor follows the theme of racing when ahead in the race. But it does leave us vulnerable to an attack. If Black's midpoint were stripped or if Black's board were weaker, I would consider it more strongly, but here it doesn't look better than hitting.
Slotting 6/5 has the advantage (over hitting) of putting our blot in a more desirable location. But we still have to play a 4. 7/3 is destructive and 13/9 again looks like too bold a play when we're ahead in the race; it'll probably win more gammons but lose more gammons. Tough to judge the tradeoff but assuming we play 6/5, I think I still like 5/1* best for the 4.
The only other plausible play I see is 13/8. Holding the bar-point anchor, we don't mind too much breaking the midpoint. If Black's midpoint were stripped then I think I would like this play best. It keeps all our checkers working harmoniously towards the racing/priming plan with relatively little risk. However, it does leave more shots than 6/1*, and Black's midpoint is not in fact stripped. (Now I see that 13/9 7/6 is another option which leaves fewer shots, but it looks inflexible.) Again I'm not sure how to judge the tradeoff.
I guess I play 6/1* (when in doubt, hit) but will not be too surprised if 13/8 or 13/9 6/5 rolls out on top.
