Doubles - my first experience

I remember when I traveled to my first big tournament in Paris 2001. I did not have alot of live experience and I entered in Intermediate Division.

In the break, doubles signups were being taken. I hanged around, and suddenly Italian guy approached me and asked if I want to play with him the Doubles. I replied I was too weak for such a strong competition (few World CHampions and BG Giants of the day were there), but he replied: Dont worry, I will play everything if you're not comfortable yet. I said OK its great learning experience. And guess what? ON the way we beat many top giants, Howard Markowitz and others and got to the finals!!!!!!! In the finals,we were knocked out quickly by 3rd and 4th BG Giants Johannes Levermann adnd Dirk Schiemann. Yet, we won money and each got trophy on which I'm still proud of (Note: That year, even tho doubles finals was in the money, this was not reported by the organizer to ChicagoPoint).....
