I got quite a bit higher number of gammons when looking at this first time, I remember, around 20% but didn't have alot of confidence in the estimate, that was why this was tough :o)

White's EPC is very close to an 8-roll using eg. Serret.

I would think that adding 1 pip to the EPC for the bearing off of a checker is too low. It's tough to judge the effect of the tactics of the dice, and the wastage of bearing to the 6pt interacts with the added wastage for taking off, but I would use a larger fraction of a rolls EPC worth.

Have you found that Kleinman's D^2/S works well with EPCs for some classes of bearoff or racing positions ? I remember blundering horribly after having just started to use the EPC because of coupling it with D^2/S from the OCM. What is the reason that one should expect it to work ?
