The match was compromised down the stretch in the last few games as they were both in time crunch problems. Stepan ended with, effectively, no time. Stick said he had "no" time left -- I don't know if that meant one second of reserve or what, but it was close. I know, he started the last two games with 57 seconds left.

Several of us had noted early in the match that this could develop as they both played conservatively and deliberately. When the score was like 6-5/21 Stepan had only 15 minutes reserve left and MCG 18 minutes of reserve, despite having started with 42 minutes each.
