Let me rephrase what I originally said to "Typically good clock strategy will leave you a little short of time in the final games if the match winds up having many games. Of course if you have no difficult decisions early on don't use the clock just to use it. Of course this concept can be overdone."

"Neil correctly stated late in the match that one should sacrifice 0.1-0.2 PR early in the match rather than sacrifice 1.0-2.0 in truly critical games at the end of the match."

Realize that what may have been a small match winning chance error at the time may be the error that cost you the match. You just didn't know it at the time.
