Cube placement

The breakdown of wins and gammons says that keeping the prime is best cubeless. As for the position with the cube centered, a lot hinges on the evaluation of the position after White plays 8/4 7/4 and Black does't roll a 4. If that position is close to a borderline take/pass (I would have thought that it was a clear pass), then White is using the cube at full value, while Black is left with an almost useless cube (almost the only case where Black can get anything from the cube is when he rolls 42).
What are the relative cube efficiencies after 8/1 I can't easily tell, but I hope that the above makes the result a bit less surprising.
