Who is the better BG player: the one who has the lowest error rate, or the one who somehow maximizes the difference between his errror rate and that of his opponent?

"But if the players are even, would the "better" player according to the false rating adjusting his cube play not hurting himself? " . If players are of even skill then one could assume a standard MET applies and that you shouldn't be adjusting your game. Now this of course is no hard and fast rule. Two players might be close/even in skill but may have quirks in their play that you may wish to take advnatage of. I know some players of my skill level (Intermediate/Advances) who will drop what I call "bully cubes". So against players who have this tendency I will try to cash earlier (even though the bot will say it was too early).

It brings up the other part of the equation. In SOME (minority) cases you may have information on your opponents tendencies, and may wish to play into those weaknesses. This is the part I call "Playing the player". Sometimes this can be difficult, but for some players they are very consistent that you can rely on them making the same cube mistakes. Of course if you don't know your opponent at all it is probably not a bad idea to play normally.

I watch and review a large number of matches (that I am not a player in) to see if I can discover these general tendencies, so on the off chance I do play these players I may be able to take advantage of the extra knowledge.
