These are good variants! I hope you will post rollouts because I'm not sure I would trust an evaluation here.

In both of these positions the loose hit on the 1pt isn't as attractive as in the original position because here it leaves two blots and doesn't unstack the 6pt. So I'd prefer 20/13* to 8/1* in both cases. But in Variant 4 there's also the option of making the bar point. The bar point isn't terribly valuable and it doesn't eliminate our outfield blot, but still I slightly prefer 11/7 10/7 to breaking the golden anchor. Not sure though.
