Deep backgame - a philosophical question.

My impression is that if you stick to the standard neural-net framework, the trouble is that training on these weird positions messes up the weights for "normal" positions.

But, as someone already said, backgames are not that unusual. Yes, they aren't frequent as holding games, but I wouldn't consider them not "normal", rare positions.

Who knows, maybe those messed up weights are closer to "universal backgammon truth" ;)
