I don't know what's best or 2nd best here, but I also preferred the priming play when I looked at this position. The trouble with the pointing play is that it's not very easy to blitz in this position. Black rates to enter easily and then Yellow could find herself overextended. If Black anchors then Yellow would like to switch back to a priming game, but the 2pt is a little too deep to be part of an effective prime. So making the 2pt is quite committal. Making the 5 prime, however, not only improves your best asset, but leaves you with a flexible position and holds in reserve the possibility of a blitz next turn if the dice are favorable.

Your point about the score, however, does make me less certain. The gammonish PoH play probably is better here than it would be for money.
