Aces to play...

Hitting is basically forced. But at gammon save I don't want to leave any inner-board blots. Even 4/3*/1 2/1 looks weak to me; it puts two checkers out of play, and although it might not look too bad to be hit on the deuce point, it's not that safe either. If we get hit, we could dance while Black rolls a 1 and a 6, or we could enter and be forced to crack our prime.

5/3*(2) leaves no blots but surely loses too often. So my first two 1's are 4/3*/2. Breaking the 7pt looks wrong so the third 1 is 8/7. Finally, even at GS, using the fourth 1 to play 8/7 looks too inflexible; 7/6 leaves only 2 shots out of 36.

So I play 8/6 4/3*/2.

It would be interesting to play with Black's distribution of spares to see how much difference that makes. Maybe my approach above is too cautious, since Black is not well-positioned to make his ace point, nor to hold his position long if he can't leap his back checker over Yellow's prime.
