Since you said "8/2 is only back by .014" I'm assuming you're talking about the final position. Apart from the obvious fact that 8/2 leaves no immediate shot, I would say that 8/2 does help your position by getting rid of the blot on the 8 point. I think that many variations after 11/5 6/5 result in your leaving a blot on the 11pt next turn anyway, because you'll urgently want to clear the blot on the 8pt and you'll have to be pretty lucky to clean up both blots at once.
