In Response To: 3 positions from the same game (Casper van der Tak)

My plays, prior to reading any analyses, were the same as Casper's. Of course if Stick thinks that 13/7 is a next in the first position then he's probably right. Rule of thumb says that being slightly behind in the race, one should generally prefer slotting up front to running from the back. The reason I didn't like it here was because it stripped the midpoint and because it's hard to prime an advanced anchor. But since there's still a lot of contact, the opponent may end up with other checkers back soon, in which case a prime will be very valuable. Not sure, but I'd run OTB.

The double hit is tempting in the second position and might be right at some scores, but I don't think it's right at this score.
