Really? I remember countless game were I had to make a choice of which finesse (I not sure it's the proper English term) to make. And down the line it was just pure luck which one to make.
Also, many game plans will rely on odd of distribution of cards on the opponents hands.
And what to say about the bidding process: it is purely statistical process: you have partial information and you bet that you will do you contract: 8 hearts and 27 point DO NOT guarantee you'll make 4 Hearts, it just tell you you are favorite to make it.
