Someone mentioned to me that maybe this post was not so clear so I'll clarify: I would hit on the 17pt. Hitting on the 7pt is really bad, you break apart your forward position, fail to even up the race, and leave a bunch of deadly shots. Getting hit on the 17pt or 18pt is no big deal as you have a lot of rolls that give you the option to come back from the bar hitting or remaking an anchor (the 18pt, the 23pt, or the 17pt), getting hit on the 7pt or 8pt is close to lights out and if it works you don't gain anything.
