If White runs now and avoids getting hit, he's in an even-ish race and threatening to escape the last man with one lucky roll.

If White anchors he is stuck in a three point holding game with big doubles blocked. He can fill his board but it is likely to crash before Black's position weakens enough to blot.

I think White must run and hope. There is hope even if hit.
