How I wish I had more time to rant in general

Maybe the reason for the debate being one-sided is that there are not that many good arguments against clocks?

Anyway, I'd like to hear them as well. And not to start shooting at them, but really to try and understand why some players are that opposed to clocks.

I think (at least here in Denmark) that the most common reason amongst those who don't want to see the clock in backgammon, is that they feel it is a chess component. And they don't like chess, and wouldn't like to see backgammon get anywhere near chess. Typically, it's players who were playing backgammon 15, 20 even 30 years ago.

But I feel (like Neil Kaz wrote) that the clock is actually helping backgammon to distance it self from chess, through guaranteeing play at a reasonable pace.
