Blue is ahead in the race, but faces a holding game. Clearing the 18 will be an ongoing problem unless blue rolls doubles or blue can distract white long enough to clear this point. Since blue didn't roll doubles, the distraction play will have to do.

18/16* Put a checker on the roof and deprive white of half a roll. Now, what to do with the 3? Shifting points with 5/2 seems wrongheaded - I'd rather see him stuck on the two than on the 5. Leaving the checker on the 16 duplicates 4s, so that seems a bit better than moving on to the 13.
