My choices are the same as Christian's. Running seems like an O.K. play too (except at GG) but gives the opponent a chance to take the initiative at least temporarily by hitting us. Four down puts the opponent on the defensive and should be more gammonish, though possibly at the cost of some games because of the straggler.
