He mentioned it in email to me; I don't know if he published it anywhere. It was a piece of advice that he gave the GNUBG team, and he was slightly miffed that they overruled him. Anyway, the argument is something like this. Player A tends to play too boldly and Player B tends to play too conservatively. Player A gets hit a lot more and dances (forced moves). Player B gets primed a lot more and has lots of choices as to just how to crunch his board. For the sake of argument let's say their total equity losses are equal, but Player B's denominator is bigger and therefore gets labeled as the worse player.
