Meyer Dice Tube VIDEO, Randomness & Cheating -- My Turn to Rant an Opinion

In Response To: Meyer Dice Tube VIDEO, Randomness & Cheating (Brett Meyer)

I really have no idea of your motivations in so adamantly promoting your dice tube -- I can't imagine you're getting rich off of it and I'd like to think you're not so vain as to attempt to establish your everlasting legacy from the 'Meyer' dice tube.

I will accommodate the dexterity challenged by using a dice tube if it is utilized in conjunction with a clock.

I will not otherwise use a dice tube. I won't roll for the use of a dice tube. My extreme attendance bias will favor tournaments with clock preferences and no preference toward dice tubes; I will seriously consider not playing in tournaments with any type of dice tube preference.

You've conveniently omitted (don't all promoters?) the discussion of a number of procedural shortcomings and 'cheating' potentials previously addressed on this forum in association with the dice tube.

Personally, I think the whole thing is a joke. If you weren't so serious and so persistent about the damn thing I'd think the whole concept facetious .....

..... however, in the meantime, as an alternative, I'd like to introduce the Riles Ultimate Backgammon Assistance Device (the Riles-U-BAD). A baffle tube -- dual open ends (the top with an upwardly directed six-inch wide funnel) -- is mounted onto a backgammon board via a center-bar-mounted 'distributor' (adjustable for various widths and depths of center bars) which is re-oriented, to signify the completion of a player's turn, to direct the dice, upon the next 'roll', to the opponent's right side of the board. The dice are then shaken in a dice cup and dropped into the open funnel through the baffle tube spilling to the appropriate side of the board. A clock trigger is mounted on the 'spill ramp' of the 'distributor' allowing incorporation of a timing mechanism eliminating the need for an independent clock. A swivel collar is mounted on the baffle tube to contain a doubling cube to be oriented, as appropriate, to the center or to either side and to be rotated within the mounting to the appropriate value. The Riles-U-BAD incorporates the best of all worlds -- a clock, dice shaking, a baffle (or dice) tube, only two dice -- no fast rolling and no disputed rolls, dice on the correct side of the board for the clarity of all players and observers (no dispute or confusion over whose turn it is), and a doubling cube holder. Nirvana !!

The prototype is in development now (or, at least, I am thinking about starting tomorrow) so get your Riles-U-BAD pre-development orders in now to help me finance the production factory.

I'm also looking for European, Japanese, and South American distribution partners, so spread the word.

Nothing personal with the rant, just my opinion.

Nothing personal with the competition, capitalism at its best.
