Yes this interesting. And my hunch is that there's a big equity difference between the plays. I'm just not entirely sure which way it cuts.

The obvious play is to point on his head on the three, but it seems that pointing on his head is terrible for timing - it's too early for the hit.

My limited understanding of backgames says that retaining mobility and "pure play" are paramount, so I'll try using that here: The pure play is 9/5. The mobility play is to run a checker from the rear with either 21/16 or 20/15*. Timing considerations say not to hit.

So that's my play 9/5 21/16. I'll be extremely shocked if it's correct.
