"What distinguishes, with a tube, who has rolled and who is to roll? The unscrupulous could merely claim a second roll. Your word against his -- do you roll for it? "
So what distinguishes, with two sets of dice and cups, who has rolled and who is to roll? After a player has ended his turn and lifts his dice, what is stopping an unscrupulous player from simply saying "my turn" and rolling again? What evidence exists that it is not his turn aside from the word of the other player?
I've certainly been in situations in conventional play where my opponent and I got distracted and were sitting there with dice in both of our cups and had to try to figure out who's turn it was. The dice tube does not create a new problem here. At least with the tube, the last roll is still shown and that can serve as a memory aid to honest players that are unsure who moved last.
