This 1978 football film demonstrates improvements to television broadcast. When watching this six minute film, it is apparent that the announcers did not even realize that Head Coach Hayes hit an opposing player. Today with the emphasis on instant replay, the announcers and fans would see the blow from twenty-seven different angles.
Previously, I spoke about my affinity to football and belief that non-Americans are not fans because the equipment is so expensive. Thus, it is hard to start the culture of the sport at a young age. Another BGO member stated that there may only be 11 minutes of action in football. This lack of action may be the cause of footballs poor international appeal. Due to the time between plays, there definitely is not 60 minutes of football. (Chuck, on average how many minutes of football per are there per game?) Constant replays of practically every play are so interesting. Viewing this 1978 football film allows me to appreciate the advances in football television broadcast.
