In Response To: RO Results (Daniel Murphy)

Daniel "I have a question about your rollout settings, which is: is there any reason to believe that "First 6 moves: 4 ply, cube decisions: 5 ply, Remaining moves: 3 ply, Cube decisions: 5 ply" is going to get any better results than something a little less time consuming?"

I agree and if you look at the Depreli study results, 4 ply cube is clearly stronger than 5 ply cube. Therefore, you don't want to use 5 ply cube!

This position will be very complicated (especially any big backgame) for many many moves. 4 ply play is also stronger than 3 ply and should play any post hit containment better.

All this means to me is that a full 4 ply play and cube RO, while it may take somewhat longer than the settings used here, might produce a result that we can better trust.
