Step up or hang back?

I think you have to step up here. If you hang back, where do you play the three? You can't unstack the eight, 14/11 gives him a direct shot, 13/10 leaves a blot smorgasbord, and 4/1 just looks weak. 6/3 might be the right play, but it's a little avant garde for my tastes.
