Give me the 'why?'

OTB I would play the simple (by which I mean donkey) move of 8/3 6/2 just because I am slightly behind in the race so want to maintain as much contact as possible. I doubt there is that much between this move and bringing two down from the middle.

Does anyone have some hay?
