"As always, it's the money."
How in the heck did those economist from Freakonomics miss this?! Too bad, because I read their books and enjoyed their movie.
I do not buy this theory that bots killed the game because people realized that they were not good and were losing money. Most online poker players lose money consistently. But, gambling is fun and sometimes average and below average players win. And losing poker players keep coming back online for recreation.
Backgammon players hardly have gambling opportunities. High rakes and long waits make online backgammon gambling a poor option.
I'm not sure TV is the necessary marketing tool. But, whatever marketing is required does not really matter. Because backgammon does not have any robust, action on demand gambling site.
