With big boardage, seek big blottage

Perhaps I was not clear enough by writing "...hits against the flow of the game". What I meant, is that this "crazy" (I don't remember/know the proper term) break-a-point-and-hit play inside blue's home board looks (at least for me) against the flow of the game. In the vast majority of the cases that I see this kind of play, blue hits so as to prevent white from achieving a very critical goal (e.g. hitting blue and making the 6th point in a row) or because any other play may ruin blue's game plan/position/assets.
In our case, it is of course right for blue to hit, but for totally other reasons. It it not something that I would think when playing in auto-pilot. In our case we would definitely like to hit, and given that we can't hit with a lone checker (and given the chance we give to white to escape with a six, if we don't hit) we choose to break a point and hit.
Overall what I say is that breaking a point so as to hit in our home board, while we are the favorite in the game is definitely not something common and not something I would think first when playing OTB.
