In Response To: Response to Poseidon (Stanley E. Richards)

I noticed that no posters seem to believe that online backgammon can be the driving force to improve its popularity.

I think the answer is - try to do something different than it is already done before.

Tournament(s) with lots of money - already seen - fail.
Online backgammon - already seen - fail.
TV broadcast - already seen - fail.

(Backgammon) world needs some new and fresh (read: crazy) idea(s). But problem is that backgammon players are afraid of changes (clocks are one of the examples).

How about chouette tournaments? Maybe that would be interesting for people that currently don't play backgammon, so they would start playing?

Offline (live play) Nations Cup?
Matches between Hugh Hefner (he is backgammon player) and some random guys?
Football (soccer) game between FC Barcelona and 11 backgammon players, and after that 11 backgammon matches?
Backgammon-boxing, based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_boxing ?
