Yes, so true...

That's the proper way of adding Bronstein delay.

You get your (up to) 12 seconds as compensation for your move/decision, thus you should get that time when you have performed that move/decision - not before.

And as Christian says, the difference between clocks running simple delay and clocks running true Bronstein time, are merely one delay for the match.

I'd suggest another (in my opinion more correct solution): Subtract one delay's worth of seconds from clocks running simple delay :-)

---

There are "real" clocks out there that do the Bronstein delay correct. The clock I currently prefer to use is the Garde Digital Tournier (a great clock for backgammon btw, just the plungers visible (no buttons), big numbers on the display and can take a beating). The Garde clock adds the delay after your move (when it increase the move-counter). My other digital clock, the cheaper DGT clock (Kramnik's choice) uses simple delay.

---

I've set my Garde clock's game-time at 34:12 for 17 pointers, simply to avoid any issues with players running out of time then complaining that the time was tracked correctly! So I point this out to all my opponents before any match: "The clock starts immediately when you hit the plunger, then it adds time when you finish your move. I've added 12 seconds to the time to compensate".

But like I said, I really feel that it's the other clocks that should take off 12 seconds of their time!
