Atleast play65 and bot busters (Me and Bob Wachtel) are working hard to get rid of bot cheaters. http://www.play65.com/backgammon-bot-busters.html

PlayWSOB (and same network servers) are also very good at it. I have never felt that I was cheated there.

CasinoRIP and same servers are ok too.

Technology for detecting bots are really improved in last few years and it is not easy for cheaters to make money.

However, you have to choose right servers to play. Some servers seemed to show little interest to protecting players from bot.
