There is nothing for certain about this position until you figure out what you are trying to achieve from this game. If we are just trying to win this game, then cover the out field hit the blot, close the board. I don't feel that hitting is the best way to win this game since it is all very likely to fall into place naturally. But this is a Gammon-Good type of score and it is worth taking some extra risk to win more gammons, particularly since getting gammoned costs nothing. Hitting here and now is going to win those extra gammons by ensuring shots at a second checker before white can clean up the mess. But it comes at the risk of a weaker position if that second checker is not picked up. But overall, this is another case of a very strong position no matter how we play and thus few losses that can be converted to wins compared to many wins that can be converted to gammons. Going all out for the gammon seems right.
