Bearoff with contact and cube position question

In Response To: Bearoff with contact and cube position question (Bob Koca)

Say opponent owns the cube. If you play 5/o 1/o and are hit then cube action will go RD/T and you will hold the cube (in a sense, transposes). If you are not hit after either play then you get no value out of holding the cube. So where is the variation where 5/4 5/o gains? It seems that it only gains equity after you get hit and are able to drop the (inefficient) recube.
