We need to expose backgammon to the video gamers.
Some kind of "XG meets Career mode"?
Player starts with $500 and can enter local 8-player tournaments with $20 entry fee (he plays against XG players who make a lot of mistakes).
After winning such tournament, his rating rises and he can enter $50 local tournaments. After that, he can play $100 regional 16-player tournaments (XG plays better than before), $200 32-player tournaments, $500 64-player tournaments and in the end $1000 64-player "world championship".
Make sure that computer players have identity, profile, character. So player doesn't play against "XG beginner", but plays against (just for illustration) players from Danny Kleinman's books (Colonel Whiteflag, Susie Suspicious, Marty Mafios, Barpoint Bob, etc.)
In pause of career, player can play money games against computer to unlock some extras in a game (new board designs, e.g.)
Also include online mode where player can play against other players to earn more in-game money and better rating.
If you (plural) were 14 year old boy, would you play something like this? :)
