For recirculation, you need a connection route. That is usually the midpoint.

Actually, the way I think about Kit's advice about preserving the midpoint when playing a backgame has little to do with recirculation and connectivity. It has to do with preserving timing. But it has little to do with this position, anyway. My comment was just an aside, really.
