Freakonomics: Why Isn’t Backgammon More Popular?

Like Henrik, I'm happier with DBgF's system not using the FIBS "boost." With the boost, my DBgF rating would have risen more quickly to something near its "true" value -- perhaps in one year, instead of three, or so. But that seemed to me to be more of a feature than a bug. The NBGF system does use the boost. Consequently I was once the highest rated player in Norway, having won my first 10 NBGF-rated matches (but my name never actually appeared on the list, because there was a minimum number of matches higher than 10 to be listed).
It might be interesting to run two sets of calculations, with and without, and compare.
