Take point

There's something to be said for using the "raw take point" to be the basic quantity of interest. Namely, it's the number that depends only on the score and not the position. (By "score" I mean to include the cube location and value.) Similarly, I don't know if there are various notions of "gammon price" floating around that try to take recube vig into account, but to me, the most logical thing to call the "gammon price" is the quantity that depends only on the score and not on the position (and in particular on any estimates of how much recube vig the position has to offer).
There is practical value in various adjustments that use heuristics about how many gammons there "typically" are in a position or how much recube vig a "typical" position has, but using the term "take point" (without qualification) for such heuristic adjustments is bound to cause confusion.
