In Dmitriy's position above, I like P (making the 5pt) in any situation, including gammon save and your score of –p–4, or –1p–4, or for those who like to denote the near player's cube position: [2]–p–4, or [2]–1p–4. (All four refer to the same score: –1 post-Crawford, –4.)

In Backgammon Openings, diagrams A155, A158 and A159 (pasted below) appear. In each of the three positions, what would you play (a) for money, (b) at gammon save, and (c) at [2]–p–4?
